Angeli Pangilinan Looks Back At Wedding To Gary Valenciano: ‘Against All Odds’

• Ipinagdiwang nina Angeli Pangilinan at Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano ang kanilang ika-37 wedding anniversary kahapon, August 6, 2021.

  Ikinasal sina Angeli at Gary noong August 6, 1984 sa Canlubang, Laguna.

  Ito rin ang petsa ng mismong kaarawan ni Gary.

  Noong ikinasal sila, si Angeli ay 25 turning 26 years old, samantalang 20 years old si Gary.

  Sa Instagram post ni Angeli, nagpasalamat siya na hindi pa uso ang social media noon. Otherwise, katakut-takot na bashing marahil ang kanyang inabot.

  Pero marami pa rin siyang kritisismong natanggap sa media, at isa sa rason ay ang papausbong pa lamang ang karera noon ni Gary.

  Kuwento ni Angeli sa Instagram, “37 years is a long time to be married. Today when I count my blessings, I thank God for my family and my husband Gary.

  “I’ve learned the basic values like patience, perseverance, self-control, & peace!

  “In 1984, 7 months pregnant & totally bashed by media (imagine if there was social media then), I married Gary in Canlubang, thanks to the Yulo family.

  “The year after we had our church wedding in Villa Escudero thanks to our Ninong Ado.

  “Against all odds & predictions, Gary and I fought for our ‘controversial’ relationship as I was 6 years older than him.

  “How many times did I want to up and leave him because I literally married a very young man!

  “He was 20! I was 25 turning 26!

  “I cannot praise the Lord enough for His faithfulness, unwavering love and provision and protective mantle over my husband’s and my life.

  “So many have supported us all these years & I want thank you as well, & you know who you are. Special mention would be Paolo, Samantha and Leia, Gab & Kiana.”

  Sina Paolo, Gab, at Kiana Valenciano ang tatlong anak nina Angeli at Gary.

  Angeli’s marriage advice

  Very open sina Angeli at Gary sa pagsasabing hindi perpekto ang kanilang marriage.

  Sa mga nakakaalam ng love story ng couple, masalimuot ang simula nito. Sa 2001 interview ni Gary sa kolumnistang si Ricky Lo, sinabi niyang bago siya nagpakasal, isa sa mga babaeng nasaktan niya ay ang ex-girlfriend na si Felichi, na kapatid ni Angeli.

  At simula lang yun ng marami pang pagsubok na pinagdaanan ng mag-asawa.

  Ayon kay Angeli, ganito raw talaga ang landas na tatahakin ng bawat relasyon, kaya bahagi ng post niya ay isang mensahe para sa mga couples.

  “Women tend to mother their men. We must learn to be less prescriptive & more open to understanding our husband’s needs first.”

  Sa huli, binati ni Angeli ang asawa sa kanilang anibersaryo at sa kanyang kaarawan.

  Si Gary ay 57 taong gulang na ngayon.

  Sabi niya, “With these thoughts I greet my husband Gary a happy anniversary & happy birthday!!! I love you hon! #notetoself”
