Anne Clutz, Hubby Discuss Ligation Vs. Vasectomy: ‘Kailangan Magpaalam Kay Mister’

  • Moms, have you ever discussed ligation — or vasectomy, for that matter — with your hubby?

Joanne Clutario, popularly known as Anne Clutz in her YouTube channel anneclutzVLOGS, says she has. In one episode of her vlogs, the mother of two revealed to her more than one million followers that she wanted to get a Bilateral Tubal Ligation (BLT). She said she has already discussed the matter with her OB-GYN and was told that at her age of 36, it’s alright to do so.

    Deciding to get ligated

She said her decision to have a ligation stemmed from the fact that she kept dreaming about either being pregnant or giving birth. While she says she seemed happy in her dreams, she doesn’t have the same feeling once she wakes up.

Why? “Sa status namin na may dalawang anak, I am happy and satisfied already. Thirty-seven na ako sa November. Ang sabi nga, ‘pag 35 pataas, high risk na.”

She adds that she wasn’t sure if she can still prepare herself mentally and physically for another baby. Anne has an 11-year-old daughter, Jeya, and a 2-year-old son, Joo. Anne has been very vocal about the fact that Joo has autism and shares her journey in taking care of him also in the same YouTube channel.

In the same episode, she closed the topic of ligation by saying “kailangang mag-paalam din kay mister” before pushing through with her plan and that she will keep their discussion on the matter private.

Daddy, bakit hindi ikaw ang mag pa-vasectomy?

In another episode, Anne asked her husband whether he would be willing to undergo vasectomy instead. “Bakit ang family planning ang burden sa babae, bakit ‘di mag effort lalaki?” the vlogger asked.

In reply, her husband, joked that he does exert effort when it comes to their chosen method of contraception which is withdrawal. “Effort kaya yun. May mind control.”

With his response, Anne said it was always hard to get a straight answer from her hubby during vlogs, but she added that her husband was wary that a ligation might be as painful as a C-section based on the videos they watched together.

In the end, Anne says she didn’t want to risk it anymore (through withdrawal) and is convinced to get a ligation by next year. “At least wala na yung pangamba or kaba na ‘what if.’”

    Couple dynamics

In the end, the question of whether her husband was willing to get a vasectomy was left in the air. Quite understandable as it’s not always easy to talk about these things in public.

If any, the vlog episodes gave viewers a peek on one possible dynamic couples may have when it comes to the topic of ligation and vasectomy. It’s not always an easy discussion but openness—and a bit of humor—can help you reach a decision.
