  Isang linggo matapos ang Halloween, may humahabol pa para ibida ang kanilang costume entry. Isa na diyan ang astig na DIY robot costume na gawa ni Daddy Dachi Santiago.

  Sa laki, mga detalye, at kakaibang disenyo nito, takaw-pansin talaga ang obra ni Daddy Dachi. Mas mapapa-wow ka pa kapag nakita mo na itong lumakad!

  Ayon sa asawa ni Dachi na si Cricket Manotok-Santiago, halos wala silang ginastos sa paggawa ng astig na costume. Bukod sa maraming recycled cardboard boxes, gumamit rin sila ng scrap wood, graden hose, mga lumang DVD, at pintura.

  Isang linggo umano ang ginugol ni Dachi para makumpleto ang costume na worth it naman dahil sa ganda ng kinalabasan nito. Kitang-kita rin na enjoy ang anak nilang si Primo na sakyan ito. Good job, Daddy Dachi!

  “My husband spent around 5-6 hours per day for a week to make the robot costume, or roughly 40 hours in total,” kwento ni Cricket. Dagdag ni mommy, naging bonding time pa ang paggawa ng costume dahil tumulong rin si Primo sa pagpinta ng costume.

  Bukod sa robot costume para kay Primo, ginawan rin ni Dachi ang bunsong anak na si Javi ng Grouch-inpired costume. Ang cute dahil tandem pa sila ni Mommy Cricket to complete the look!

  Halloween family tradition

  Nakagawian na ng Santiago family na mag-effort para sa kanilang Halloween costume. Ayon kay Mommy Cricket ito na ang ika-4 na Halloween ni Primo at sa bawat taon ay pawang mga gawa nila ang sinusuot na costume ng anak.

  “Ever since we became parents, it has been our tradition to make Halloween extra special for the kids. We always made their costumes — they were never store-bought.

  This is Primo’s 4th Halloween and his previous costumes were Mario + King Koopa stroller, a sorbetero vendor, Kobe Bryant and a Lalamove rider.”

  Para kay Mommy Cricket, nagiging paraan umano ang paggawa ng DIY costumes upang mahasa ang kanilang creativity at maturuan sila kung paano maging madiskarte at bumuo ng magandang bagay mula sa mga limitadong materyales.

  “Because we refuse to buy generic costumes and prefer making them by hand from scratch, it helps encourage creativity and imagination in the kids, especially when they appreciate how simple materials can be transformed into fascinating creations.”

  Paraan din umano ito nilang mag-asawa upang mapakita sa mga anak na hindi kailangang gumastos nang malaki upang makapagsaya. “We want to teach them to be thankful for the things they have and to learn that you do not need to spend loads of money to have fun,” sabi ni Cricket.
