It truly takes a Village to raise a child. In a typical Filipino family, moms and dads often aren’t the only ones who work hard to raise happy and healthy children. Lolos, lolas, titos, and titas, also lend a helping hand.
So it’s not surprising to see that grandparents remain close to their grandchildren even when they’ve become adults.
Ronna Uy-Canete, from Tagum City, Davao del Norte, made sure her Lola Nena and Lola Estrella had a special participation in her wedding—the same way they had a special participation in raising her.
Ronna has always had a special bond with her lolas ever since she was born. Lola Nena and Lola Estrella would take care of Ronna whenever Ronna’s parents were at work.
“Hanggang may asawa na, nandito pa rin sa akin,” Lola Nena said in an interview with Summit Originals.
Ronna wanted to acknowledge the love and support she received from her grandmothers. So she made them her “Flower Lolas” on her big day.
