Mommy Min Gifts Daughter Kathryn Bernardo With Her ‘Dream’ Studio For 25th Birthday

• Kathryn Bernardo feels like it’s still her birthday after receiving a surprise gift from her mom, Min Bernardo.

  

  Mommy Min surprised the Kapamilya actress with her very own studio in Quezon City two months after her daughter’s 25th birthday last March 26, 2021.

  In a vlog uploaded on Kathryn’s YouTube channel on Sunday, June 6, 2021, Mommy Min said Kathryn has always wanted to have a space or a place where she can shoot her commercials, vlogs, and photos.

  According to Mommy Min, it took nine months to finish Kathryn’s studio. She also kept everything under the radar.

  “Well, matagal na namin balak kasi ang magkaroon ng studio pero balak lang iyon. Akala ni Kathryn wala akong ginagawa for that.

  “Pero since nung October [2020], nakausap ko na ang kanyang architect, ang kanyang contractor para tulungan ako kung paano mapapagawa itong studio na hindi nalalaman ni Kath.”

  Mommy Min adds, “Nagdetalye lang ako kung paano ang itsura ng isang studio. Simpleng-simple lang siya. Then, dumating iyong time na pinapunta ko iyong contractor sa shoot namin.

  “Nagulat pa nga si Kathryn, ‘O, bakit nandito siya?’ ‘Wala nadaan lang,’ sabi ni Aaron So. Si Aaron kasi iyong contractor naming mabait. So pinakita ko lang sa kanya, ‘O ganitong ka-simple lang iyong gagawin mo.'”

  After weeks of holding meetings since October 2020, the construction of Kathryn’s studio started in February 2021. Mommy Min initially thought it would be easy to plan the design, but midway through the construction, she learned that what she had in mind was not exactly what Kathryn wanted.

  Mommy Min asked Kathryn’s go-to hairstylist John Valle for advice. “Iyong studio, parang typical siya na parang bodega lang then pipinturahan lang ng white ganyan. Sabi niya [John], ‘Naku mommy, hindi na ganyan ang gusto ni Kath.’

  “‘Gusto niya iyong maraming bintana, iyong mga French windows, iyong mga natural light kailangan pumapasok.’ Sabi ko, ‘Di ba iyong mga studio parang bodega lang, iyong mga pinagshu-shootan natin?’

  “Pero iba gusto ni Kathryn. So ang ginawa ng contractor at ng kanyang architect right away, drawing-drawing, ‘O, ganyan.’ So another meeting.

  “Nasira iyong pinagawa ko so binagbag lahat. Tinaas lang dapat iyong ano nun e, iyong kisame niya. So bawat side binutasan. Then nagkaroon na ng mezzanine and all.

  “Then pumasok na iyong interior designer niya. Sabi niya, ‘O tita, I will help you na para naman magkaroon ka ng peace of mind.'”

  Mommy Min also sought the help of Kathryn’s boyfriend Daniel Padilla for the studio. “Alam ni DJ iyong mga pinagagawa ko. Minsan, pinupuntahan ni Daniel iyon. Siyempre hindi alam ni Kath.”

  On why she decided to give Kathryn her own studio, Mommy Min explained, “Iyon ang naisip namin kasi napapansin namin especially dito sa Quezon City, kokonti iyong studios dito. Nag-decide na akong gawin ito kasi para meron tayong place para sa mga small gatherings. So puwede na ito sa kanyang mga commercials, sa pictorials, and most especially, sa TGIS niya.”

  TGIS is one of Kathryn’s video series on her YouTube channel. Mommy Min later quipped, “And also, Daniel, dito ka na din, ha!”

  Although the studio is not yet finished, Mommy Min decided to finally show it to Kath on May 22, 2021. The vlog showed Kathryn’s reaction upon entering the studio, and learning from Daniel that she owns the building.

  Kathryn was speechless, and said “oh my god” at least 13 times.

  Her studio has a main hall with high ceilings, and this serves as the shooting space. The studio also has a mezzanine which serves as the hair, make-up, and dressing area. There are also several rooms on the ground floor for meetings and for eating.

  In an Instagram post last Sunday, Kathryn thanked her mom for the wonderful surprise.
