TV host and actress Kris Aquino revealed her engagement to former DILG secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento on Sunday, October 24, 2021.
In her Instagram post, Kris mostly credits her late brother, former Philippine President Noynoy Aquino, for her newfound love. She said she could feel her brother continuing to look out for her. Mel served as the DILG chief during Noynoy’s term as the Philippine president.
“We would never have met nor reconnected had it not been for Noy. Thank you to my kuya, kahit wala na sya ramdam na ramdam ko na kahit ilang beses kaming nagkatampuhan, kahit kailan gagawa talaga sya ng paraan na ma-assure kami nila kuya josh at bimb kung gaano nya kami kamahal.”
Kris believes Noynoy has been their “matchmaker in heaven” and that her brother really ensured she will be left in good hands.
“Somehow i believe there really was a matchmaker in heaven who must be smiling now- i can almost hear his voice telling me, “kristina, tama na, respect the fact na gusto ni Mel ng tahimik na buhay.” And finally, “bunso”has learned to obey.”
The ‘Queen Of All Media’ went on to express gratitude to her fiancé. Kris addressed Mel as her best friend and the man “I said yes to spending the rest of my life with”. She also shared that her son, Bimby Aquino Yap, approves of Mel as her partner.
“Thank you for as bimb said loving me for me, with no agenda, and for being just an overall good and patient man. It’s unreal how much more calm & peaceful i feel now that you’re here,” Kris said.
