Riva Quenery On Emergency C-Section: ‘Nagka-Problem Sa Pagbaba Ng Ulo ni Baby’

• Actress Riva Quenery shared her birthing experience, from doing her best through her contractions and getting an epidural to having an emergency Cesarean section.

  The vlog began with Riva struggling with contractions while her partner, Vern Ong, tried his best to offer comfort. However, when they got to the hospital, Riva said the pain became intolerable.

  “Grabe, hindi na talaga tolerable ‘yung pain…Tinanong kung gusto ko ng epidural sinabi ko talaga ‘Yes please, give me!’ Kasi nga ang sakit na talaga,” Riva said.

  Riva said she wanted to have the baby via normal delivery. “Trying my best to do a normal delivery pero nagka-problem sa pagbaba ng ulo ni baby,” she said.

  In the vlog, her doctor could be heard saying, “Mataas pa. Umakyat,” referring to the head of Riva’s baby. Then the vlogger actress recounted how two people had to help push her baby.

  “Tried my best not to scream pero hindi ko kinaya ‘yung sakit. Tinry ulit (to push) kasi ayokong sumuko. Pero mas lalo siyang sumakit.”

  Riva had been letting out screams because of the pain, but then it became difficult for her to breathe. It was at this point that her doctor told her that an emergency C-section needed to be performed.

  “Riva, umakyat ‘yung head ng baby mo. Hindi siya gumagalaw, eh. Pag hindi kasi to bumaba, Riva, I’ll have to open you,” her doctor said.

  Riva didn’t want to give up on having a normal delivery despite the pain and asked for a “last chance” to push the baby. She tried to do so for another 30 minutes. But there wasn’t any progress.

  “Riva, I really want you to have a normal delivery. Ang problema ayaw, hindi talaga siya bumababa. Nagta-try siyang (bumaba) ng ganun tas atras nanaman. I’ll have to open you Riva ha?..Riva, sorry ha. I’m really sorry,” Riva’s doctor said.

  Despite the pain and dealing with the unexpected, Riva and Vern welcomed Athena Rae at 3:42 p.m. on October 12.
