Sophie Albert On Vin Abrenica: ‘Walang Censored Sa Aming Dalawa’

  • Since Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica got engaged on December 12, 2020 and made the announcement two months later, on February 13, 2o21, a lot has happened. They soon shared the good news of having a baby and eventually becoming parents with the birth of their daughter Avianna Celeste on March 15.

That’s why the couple’s wedding plans have to take the back seat for now. “We are not talking about the wedding yet,” Sophie tells SmartParenting.com.ph in an interview. “Because I’m really hoping that when we do get married, it’s a little bit more normal.”

The exclusive talent of GMA Artist Center refers to the drastic changes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic to everyday life as infection rate continues to rise. Sophie, Vin, and Avianna, along with Sophie’s parents and their household staff, have battled the highly infectious disease (read here).

Sophie goes on explaining: “‘Cause right now, you know, we’re just planning Avianna’s baptism pa lang, ha? Super sakit sa ulo kasi nag-ECQ [enhanced community quarantine] na naman. We’re supposed to have her baptism early August. I had to re-plan everything…I don’t want that headache for our wedding.”

She has another reason: “And if I’m honest, like super 100% honest, I still I wanna lose weight before I get married. I wanna look my best. So ngayon, I’m still on the, ano, medyo bigger side. So, I need to lose more weight before I can think about planning.”

She elaborates, “Because when I got pregnant, I really gained so much weight, like so much weight, na I guess, after you gain so much weight, parang you’re so concerned about, ‘Am I still big?'”

The new mom says she started working out again three months after giving birth, though not as consistent as before she got pregnant. That’s because she gives priority of her time to the baby, so she just follows the Sweat app for its postpartum workout program.

“And with dieting naman,” she adds, “I don’t really do any diet for now kasi nga I’m not naman nagmamadali to lose the weight. More than that, parang I just wanna be happy. Being a mama is so hard. Parang to diet pa, oh my gosh! Kabaliwan na.”

When Sophie shared the news of her engagement to Vin in February 2020, she posted two photos on Instagram. But her followers reacted more on how white her hand looks. Looking back she explains: “Honestly, it was funny to me kasi parang, ‘Wow!’ Parang that was like the biggest news of my life, right? I got engaged. And then, ‘yung napansin nila ‘yung kamay ko. “But, wala, it was funny naman to me na they were laughing at my hand. But, to be honest, at that time, I was really so white because we came out of pandemic. “And before that, I was always in the beach, I was always getting sun. And then, nawala ‘yung sun. Sobrang pumuti talaga ‘yung kamay ko. And it didn’t help that the location was so dark. And I used flash which I shouldn’t have used. But ‘yun, dahil sa flash, super namuti ‘yung kamay ko.” She adds: “Hindi po ako anemic. I was pregnant at that time, I was taking so much iron.”

Needless to say, Sophie and Vin focus more on their relationship, which, she says, has been going strong for the last eight years. They first met as contestants in Artista Academy, a reality-based talent search aired on TV5 in 2012, in which they emerged as the grand winners. The following year, the two went from best friends to a romantic couple.

“What makes our relationship work?” Sophie muses. “Honestly, I don’t know how ours is different from other relationships. But, I think, because– it might be cliché, ha? Pero I really think, and I really, really super believe that it’s because we started out as friends.

“So, we were very good friends before we became girlfriend and boyfriend. And I think, that’s something that I like about our relationship, it’s not like– honestly, if you’re with us, you’ll really like think that we’re just friends, ’cause we’re not super– I don’t know, parang we joke about things.

“We’re very open about everything. Yeah, I guess we just really show, like, our true, true selves. There’s nothing na censored sa aming dalawa. So even the grossest stuff, even bathroom things, there’s no censor. So yeah, we’re just like friends who enjoy each other’s company, I guess.”

But that doesn’t mean they don’t have pet peeves for each other. “S’yempre meron. Oh my God! Ang dami!” she says, laughing. “Honestly, today lang, nainis si Vin sa akin kasi right now, we’re all working from home, ‘di ba? We also have YouTube, gano’n.

“So we have to like divide our time na, ‘Oh, this is what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna shoot this today and shoot this today.’ E s’yempre we’re just a two-man team, it’s just me and Vin. So, I pulled him today because I had to do shoot stuff and he was so mad at me because he planned to do some stuff also.

“So inis na inis siya na parang, ‘You’re always taking my time!’ He’s always mad at me because I always take his time. But, the thing is, he could always say no, but he never says no. He just does it and then, magagalit siya sa akin na parang, ‘You took my time!'”

Sophie says she’d shoot back, “E di sana nag-no ka?” She then explains, “That’s the thing with Vin, like, if I ask him to do something, he won’t say that he doesn’t wanna do. He’ll just do it and then, he’ll be mad at me after, na parang, ‘E di huwag mong gawin. Okay lang naman.'”

Sophie also knows what her fiancé dislikes. “He says I’m bossy,” she admits, grinning. “But ‘yun nga, you can say no.”
