Sam Pinto gladly counts the ways her husband Anthony Semerad has been supportive of her while carrying their first child: “He cooks for me. Alam mo naman pag pregnant, grabe ang emotions. He’s just been emotionally there for me as well.”
She adds, “He’s been very patient with me. Ano ba ang pinag-aawayan namin? Mababaw lang, pag nagta-tantrums lang ako.” And she goes on laughing.
The actress and entrepreneur, who’s on the final stretch of her pregnancy, also gets extra push from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player whenever she gets too lazy to exercise.
Sam tells SmartParenting.com.ph in an exclusive interview, “Anthony helps me because he works out crazy every day. Gano’n siya. Meron siyang team practice in the morning, and he does his own program. He does extra pa after.”
So she ends up feeling “bad” as she lies idly around the house, and eventually decides, “Sige nga, I’ll work out na rin.” She says her workout routine starts with 20 minutes walking on the treadmill and then doing exercises either for her upper body or legs. Sam and Anthony got married on March 28, 2021 at the Conrad Manila hotel (read here). But they planned for a bigger wedding long before the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.
She explains, “Actually we got engaged two years ago pa…We met with the wedding planner right after we got engaged. It was parang supposed to happen that day naman talaga, but in a smaller–a very small–scale.”

Sam says she and Anthony are getting parenting pointers from David and Gwen. She recalls, “When Cooper was born [in August 2019], we were already watching how they did it.” She adds that Anthony enjoys changing the baby boy’s diaper. “Nagpa-practice na siya kay Cooper.”
Sam admits her husband is more fond of babies compared to her. “Mahilig siya sa babies. Ako, hindi masyado. I would just watch from afar. They’re so fragile. Baka mahulog ko sila.”
But she’s confident she won’t have that fear when her own baby finally arrives. In fact, she and her husband have been planning on how to best care for their first child–a girl!
For starters, they’re set on combining elements from Filipino and Western parenting styles. Anthony is a Filipino-Czech born and raised in Australia.
They also plan on homeschooling their child as they’ll be going back and forth Metro Manila and Baler, where Sam owns and runs L’Sirene Boutique Resort. She and Anthony are also investing in a spa resort in Batangas.
