Children’s birthday parties are a lot of fun, but they can also come up with a ton of trash. From plastic cups to toxic art materials, it can add up to a ton of waste harmful to the environment.
Enter eco-friendly party ideas, courtesy of the simple yet fun birthday celebration of Lilo Alipayo. Mommy Andi Eigenmann and Daddy Philmar Alipayo enjoyed throwing the party for their little surfer girl, who just turned 2 last July 23.
The family happily celebrated the start of Lilo’s day, with the celebrant wearing a cute DIY paper crown with the words “Birthday Kween” written on it while having souffle pancakes for breakfast.
Lilo’s birthday party was perfect for the surfer island girl, with Andi saying in her post: “We celebrated her 2nd with a low- waste birthday party in open air, with all her little island friends!”

The kids had a ton of fun playing outdoors. What kid could resist an inflatable playground, playing out in the sun, or making your tie-dye creations, courtesy of the “World’s best ate,” Lilo’s sister Ellie?

Lilo’s guests enjoyed the classic Filipino game of pabitin hung from an actual tree, with cute party favors wrapped inside what looks like small bags made of jute. That’s better than using plastic, and you can reuse the bags, too!
A delicious spread of food is a must-have at any birthday celebration, and the party had plenty. From chicken lollipops (you can’t have a kiddie party without it!) to lechon, the decorated spread had banana leaves and reusable serving dishes and not a piece of plastic tableware in sight!
