Nadine Samonte On Difficult Pregnancy: ‘We Almost Lost Our Baby During My First Trimester’

  • Nadine Samonte is fighting to keep her third baby and she bravely shared her difficult pregnancy journey to her followers.

On her Instagram, the actress shared a photo of her baby bump covered in bruises, plus her arm that had traces of injection.

Nadine had previously shared that her past pregnancies have been tough — she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APAS) when she first got pregnant in 2015, and she is going through it a third time.

“Every day is a struggle but it’s more of a blessing,” the mom wrote in the caption accompanying the photo. “Feeling my tummy grow every day is what I’m thankful for.”

According to Nadine, this pregnancy is different from her first two pregnancies. She admits that she almost lost her baby in the first trimester. “But with God’s grace and guidance, hindi Niya kami pinabayaan.”

In an interview with Pep.ph, Nadine’s mother-in-law, actress Isabel Rivas, shared that it took Nadine and her husband, Richard Chua, a while to reveal that they were expecting because Nadine had a delicate pregnancy.

“She was in and out of the hospital because of bleeding, threatened abortion, kaya complete bed rest siya. Pero now, okay na kaya nag-post na sila [sa social media],” she shared.

In her post, Nadine shares that she is continuing with her therapies and medication, including intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), lymphocyte immunization therapy (LIT), Proluton, and Innohep.

In a way, this is similar to her past pregnancies — when she was carrying her firstborn, Heather Sloane, Nadine shared that she had to take around 56 tablets daily, plus Heparin shots. For her second child, Austin Titus, the mom also had to have Innohep and Proluton injections, plus take 30 tablets daily.

Despite the painful shots and her bruised body, the actress is taking it all in stride. She reveals that their third child is a rainbow baby and that it will probably be her last pregnancy. (A rainbow baby is a child born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.)
