Aicelle Santos gave birth yesterday morning, December 5, 2020, to her and her husband Mark Zambrano’s first child. The couple, who got married in November 2019, had a baby girl. They had given her the name Zandrine Anne weeks before she was born.
On Instagram, the singer-theater actress shared her daughter’s first photo. “Hello everyone! Just droppin’ by to say I came out of mommy’s tummy yesterday morning! I cried really loud, slept the whole day, had some of mommy’s milk and was up all night until 7am today! Fantastic!”
She went on to thank her doctors and hospital staff for helping her deliver her “miracle” baby. “We praise and give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for a miracle that is me, ZANDRINE! Thank you Papa God! We love you. Love and blessings to all!”
In Aicelle’s interview with SmartParenting.com.ph last November 2020, she said they tweaked the popular French name Sandrine. It’s derived from the ancient Greek name Alexandria, and its masculine form, Alexander, which means “protector of men.”
“O, di ba, para strong,” she pointed out. “Nilagay namin ’yong Anne because I’m Aicelle Anne.”
The first-time mom recalled that she learned of their baby’s gender ahead of her husband “kasi ayaw niyang malaman.” She just wanted to know for practical reasons, such as when buying baby clothes. She felt she had bought enough white clothes and she longed for more colors.
At first, Aicelle fancied having a baby boy as panganay since she’s the eldest among her siblings, so “never ko pa na-experience ’yong may kuya.” She then thought “it would be nice to have our panganay as kuya,” but later on, she realized gender didn’t matter to her “basta healthy si baby.” Her husband, on the other hand, really wanted to have a baby girl “kasi malambing daw sa tatay.”

Then, Aicelle said, they would let the girl choose what she wants to do, whether being a singer, a sports anchor/commentator, or maybe a doctor.
Aicelle is certain on what kind of mom she’d like to be to Baby Zandrine: “I wanna be her friend. I wanna be a cool mom. Natural kasi sa nanay ang sasawayin mo ang anak mo. Sasabihin mo ang tama sa hindi. Kasi natural ’yan, eh. You care for her. You want a better future for her.
“Pero at same time, you want to be her friend para alam mo ang secrets niya. We’ll go shopping together. Dahil friends kami, gusto ko pag andun na siya sa puberty stage, alam ko ’yong mga crush, mga manliligaw. Kasi hindi ko naranasan ’yon. My parents, they were very, very strict.”
She also has some words of encouragement for moms-to-be: “Keep calm and pray. Kasi hindi natin kontrolado ang sitwasyon, kung ano man ang nangyayari sa katawan natin, sa daming changes in the body, and ’yong sitwasyon sa labas.
“If you submit to worry and anxiety, hindi magaganda for your health and for the health of your baby. So, ano lang, breathe in and breathe out. Kalma lang and pray. Just trust in the Lord, and everything will be okay.”
