Unfollowing someone on a social platform often means a breakup, especially for celebrity couples. And LJ Reyes and Paolo Contis have basically confirmed the speculation they have gone their separate ways.
But LJ has not just unfollowed her partner of five years. She has also opened up in an interview with Boy Abunda on his YouTube channel. It is scheduled to go up tonight, September 1, 2021, at 6 p.m. Read here.
The 20-second teaser has LJ saying, “It was so difficult. It was painful. Kung hindi malakas ang pananampalataya ko sa Panginoon, hindi ko alam kung saan ako pupulutin.”
Her next soundbite speaks volume: “Matagal ko nang nararamdamang nakahiwalay na siya sa amin.”
On August 20, Paolo surprised his Instagram followers when he stopped following anybody, including LJ, on the social media platform. That did not mean anything necessarily (he had a movie out at the time.). But when he deleted all his photos with LJ, it ignited speculations of a separation.
Two days later, Paolo’s manager Lolit Solis confirmed in an Instagram post that the couple have split up. She said in the caption, “Walang 3rd party sa hiwalayan Paolo Contis at LJ Reyes, it was a matter of na outgrow na nila ang romance sa kanilang relasyon.”
Lolit added, “Kesa naman humantong pa sa pag-aaway, mas gusto na nila na maghiwalay ng maayos, at dasal na mag-end as friends.”
LJ and Paolo remain connected by their daughter, 2-year-old Summer Ayana, who is the spitting image of LJ and the heir apparent of Paolo in kakulitan. Summer’s photos are all over her parents’ respective Instagram accounts.

Before that, Paolo shared how he, a big basketball fan, readily gave up watching the NBA finals game because Summer wanted them to see the Disney movie Frozen. (Read here.)
LJ herself has said in one of her now-deleted posts that she’s thankful for having a hands-on partner in Paolo.
LJ and Paolo shared a home with Summer and LJ’s first-born child, Aki, whose father is LJ’s ex-boyfriend and fellow actor Paulo Avelino. Paolo has two children with his ex-wife Lian Paz.
