From ‘Made-up Silly Songs,’ Jim And Saab Bacarro Created A Music Channel For Kids

  • As musicians, Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona naturally fill the house they share with their kids, Pancho and Vito, with music. As shown in the social media accounts of the couple, they encourage their toddler boys to play instruments and spend time in their music studio at home.

The husband-and-wife team, who hosts the podcast Wake Up with Jim and Saab, have also written what they call “made-up silly” songs that initially they just meant to sing to Pancho, 3 years old last February 2021, and Vito, 2 years old this coming September.

Eventually, Jim and Saab, with the help of Jim’s colleagues from the Linya-Linya retail brand, put those songs together into several sets of music videos to come up with a music channel on YouTube called Puddy Rock! (Watch here).

“We’ve now made them available for everyone to enjoy,” the couple say in the media invite for the launch of Puddy Rock!, which was held this afternoon, August 1, 2021. Saab first uploaded, on her own vlog, a mockumentary on the making of an album with Pancho and Vito as star musicians, with Jim as the album producer and narrator.

In the video, Jim describes the album as “nothing serious, just fun jamming.” He also talks about Vito being passionate (“He wanted to be in every step of the process,”) and Pancho as more of the happy-go-lucky type.

Simultaneously, various sets of musical treats, such as sing-and-dance tunes, nursery rhymes, and kids’ songs, were uploaded on the Puddy Rock! channel on that same day.  First on the list is the “Animal Friends” collection, featuring these cute characters: Arfist, a dog; Oceanist, a fish; Benny, a rabbit; Waffy, a giraffe; Bobby, an owl; Jonesy, a cat;  and Mooses, a cow.

Jim and Saab did a great job making the songs very singable, so that toddlers can easily follow and parents can’t help but have a serious last song syndrome (LSS).  The accompanying visuals are equally likeable and memorable.

They also made songs in English, Filipino, and Bisaya, as well as equipped with sign language. Needless to say, every child is represented in Puddy Rock! The couple point out in the invite, “As parents to a child with special needs, our primary goal in creating this world is to promote and normalize inclusivity.”
