When news broke on June 14 that the annual Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is still pushing through this 2021, shares and likes went by thousands—showing how much excited we all are about another opportunity to purchase more low-cost but high-quality books (that we may or may not read in our lifetime).
But like most events this year, Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is also moving online.
“The people need books more than ever now. We do want to continue our journey in spreading the wonders of reading,” co-founder Andrew Yap tells the press on June 17.
Here are a few things you should know about Big Bad Wolf (BBW) Book Sale 2021:
BBW 2021 runs for a whole week.
This year’s BBW runs from June 30 (12 a.m.) to July 7 (11:59 a.m.). Still 24/7, except you don’t have to rush to the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

BBW has been to Metro Manila, Pampanga, Cebu, and Davao in the past years. But for the first time ever, it’s happening wherever you are in the Philippines since everything’s going to be online. You can just have your haul delivered right to your doorstep.
Everything is on sale.
Obviously. Up to 60,000 titles will be sold for up to 99% off their recommended retail prices. Books can go as low as P10 (with a minimum of P1,800 purchase).
You also get free shipping if you spend at least P2,900 on books (we all know you’ll surely do). There are also additional discounts and vouchers you can avail.

Their website has been around for a while, but BBW has improved their e-commerce platform to accommodate a surge in traffic as soon as they open to the Philippine market.
“The whole system is very much stable now,” Yap assured us. And like most e-commerce websites we’re familiar with, it has an “Add to Cart” button, the usual checkout process, and a number of payment options (Dragonpay, eGHL, Visa, Mastercard, Bancnet, and GCash). Shipping can take weeks (or from 18 to 24 days) from Malaysia to Manila, but just think of it as a gift from your past book-shopper self.
More, more, more books.
According to BBW co-founder Jacqueline Ng, they can now open up their whole inventory with the transition to an online platform.
They don’t have to haul books from Malaysia and to the Philippines, and not be limited by the physical space. “It’s going to be more rewarding,” she said.
There are going to be up to three times more books than how many you see in the usual BBW, and up to 20,000 of those are new arrivals.
Online BBW will go on post-COVID.
With our quick adoption of e-commerce, Ng revealed that BBW will continue to go online even post-COVID. But she also said that they’re going back to the Philippines, too, as soon as they can.
“We can’t wait to go back and have our physical sale,” she said. We sure think about picking up a book from a pile or even glancing at a stranger’s cart full of books from time to time, but till then, we’re just glad we can add to cart all these reads.
