We’ve already shown how self-adhesive wallpaper can change the look of your home, but did you know you can also use it to upgrade your children’s toys? That’s what mom Ruby Delos Reyes did when she transformed her daughter’s kitchen playset made of carboard with a Frozen-inspired design!
“’Yung simpleng cardboard gumanda because of it,” she shares in an email with SmartParenting.com.ph.
The mom, who is also a part of our parenting community, Smart Parenting Village, and who is no stranger to DIY, shares that she only spent P240 for her creation. “If it was a ready-made kitchen playset, I will spend more, for sure,” she says.
How to DIY a toy kitchen set
In one of her posts at our Village, Rubee shares that this kitchen playset was actually her first project for her little one. She started collecting empty cardboard boxes to make this toy kitchen and eventually added a dollhouse into the mix during the community quarantine.
“I checked the prices, namahalan po ako. So I started to study paano gumawa na lang [on my own] and success naman,” she writes.
Pretend play is crucial to a child’s development, boosting cognitive, social and emotional, language and communication, problem-solving, and creativity skills. Apart from improving these skills, kitchen playsets also encourage independent play, which is why experts recommend this type of toys for kids.
