Mimiyuuuh’s parents battled COVID-19 and it was the reason the popular vlogger took a break from social media and YouTube.
On May 13, the social media influencer uploaded a vlog on her channel and revealed the details of what she calls “a very traumatic incident.” She also shares that it changed her perception about the virus since “to be honest, I was one of those people who thought COVID was a hoax.”
“Pero kinain ko po lahat ng sinabi ko because of what happened to my parents,” Mimiyuuuh shares.
Luckily, her dad only experienced mild symptoms. However, her mom was a more severe case and had to be brought to the hospital eventually.

While she had second thoughts letting them go, she shared that “My mom is aging, and I want her to live her best life — kaya nga po ako nag-ta-trabaho — so we said, yes.”
But after the outing, her mom developed a rash which spread to her back and legs. Her health also started to deteriorate.
Mimiyuuuh scheduled a home service where a rapid blood test was done on her parents. It came back negative, but the doctor informed that that her mom had pneumonia.
Mimiyuuuh’s mom wasn’t getting better so the vlogger scheduled an RT-PCR test. They found out their mom was positive on April 6, on her dad’s birthday. Her dad also tested positive a few days later on April 9.
“Nataranta po kami. Wala kaming any idea [how] to handle COVID. It’s our fault na wala kami masyadong knowledge,” the vlogger reveals. (Click here for a guide on how to prepare if the whole household tests positive for COVID-19)

They also had a hard time admitting their mother into a hospital when her oxygen levels dropped but luckily, they were able to get help for her. Mimiyuuuh’s nanay and tatay were able to recover after almost a month.
After their ordeal, Mimiyuuuh shares her realizations — from finally believing that the virus is real, taking precautions in and out of the home, caring for one’s health, and investing in insurance. She also hopes more Filipinos can have access to the COVID-19 vaccine so we can finally go back to normal.
