A Philippine Science High School Campus Will Rise In New Clark City

• Some good news for families thinking of moving or currently living in Central and Northern Luzon. A Philippine Science High School campus will soon rise in New Clark City, Tarlac.

  According to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), the planned 4.6-hectare site will be a campus for senior high school students and a resource center for teachers and other professionals. It also intends to house the science high school’s Clark Freeport Zone campus’ growing student and employee population.

  This new campus in New Clark City called “Infinitum” aims to become the “center for learning and service continuity for the entire PSHS System.”

  BCDA president and chief executive officer Vince Dizon is hopeful the new campus will give students from Central and Northern Luzon access to quality education.

  Pisay, as it is popularly known, is known to be one of the Philippines’ top science high schools and prepares students for a career in the competitive field of STEM.

  “We hope that with the new PSHS campus, we will be able to give more opportunities for quality education to deserving Filipino students especially in Central and Northern Luzon. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the valuable contribution of science and technology in our society,” Dizon said.

  “We will also be able to build our pool of researchers and professionals who would help us prevent other pandemics in the future. It is also crucial, now more than ever, to invest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education to stop climate change and provide scientific and technological solutions to issues plaguing our society.”

  According to BCDA, 80% of the campus will be open space, and 20% will be occupied with facilities like a training center, a technology hub, a research center, an innovation center, a multipurpose academic building, an administration building, a summer camp area, and dormitories.

  The establishment of a PSHS campus in New Clark City has been in the works since 2016, and the master plan for it was approved last August 2021 with contruction to be finished by 2022.
