Are you the type who goes grocery shopping every week? Anyone who handles the household budget knows that groceries eat up a huge chunk and if you can save up on a few items, the better. From knowing where items are priced cheaper to having a list of essentials to prioritize — wais moms and dads have hacks to make every run to the supermarket easier on the pocket.

Mom of two Shyden is one of those wais parents. She used vouchers she collected from Shopee to get discounts when shopping at Puregold.

In a post on the Facebook group, Tipid Living, she shared how she patiently waited for the flash deals and how big of a help the deals are. “Piso lang po ‘yung 20 pesos na voucher, grabe ang laking biyaya din…sa panahon ngayon, kailangan ang diskarte sa buhay,” her post reads.

If you also have the Shopee app on your mobile phone, you might be familiar with Shopee Share Treats. You can use this to purchase food from fast food establishments (one mom even used it to buy food for her twins’ birthday and she has tips on how you can get the best deals!).

Collecting the Puregold vouchers works the same way — you need a stable Internet connection, fast fingers, patience, and funds on your Shopee Pay so you can pay for the items.

To collect vouchers, open your Shopee app then tap on the Deals Near Me icon. Once you tap it, you’ll be able to see which deals are up for grabs.

You just need to tap on the image to get the discount. Remember to check the timer as some deals disappear once sold out or the time has lapsed. If this happens, you just need to wait for the voucher to become available again.

The Php20 discount can be purchased for only Php1 which you can pay through Shopee Pay. As explained on the How to Redeem section, you need to pay via ShopeePay QR then select the voucher to be used.

“Just recently, I purchased two [pouches] of pancit canton worth Php15 each. My total bill is Php30 and I have a Php20 voucher. ‘Yung P10 na kulang, I pay it with cash,” Shyden shares in one comment. Keep in mind that only one voucher will be accepted per transaction.

If you’re wondering where you can claim or use your vouchers, the Shopee app has a list of branches that accept vouchers. When using the deals you’ve accumulated, Shyden suggests doing your grocery shopping on days when there aren’t many customers.

“Reminder lang magpunta po kayo dun after lunch time kasi wala masyadong customers at syempre hindi nakakahiya sa cashier at sa ibang customers na naghihintay sa pila,” she explains.

Since only one voucher is honored per transaction, you can choose to make multiple transactions to be able to use the deals you’ve collected.

Scanning the vouchers might take time, so be mindful of the other customers who also need to pay for their groceries. You can take this as an opportunity to use your deals wisely — you may choose not to use up all vouchers at once so you have enough left for your next trip to the supermarket. Don’t forget to check if the vouchers have expiration dates so you can use them before then.

When going to the supermarket, it helps if you have mobile data as the cashier needs to scan the code on your app. Aside from Puregold vouchers, you may also want to be on the lookout for deals you can use at National Book Store! These may come in handy when shopping for school supplies.

In these trying times, we need to be wais when it comes to buying essentials from the home. It’s always a good decision to grab an opportunity to save even just a few pesos!
