Bettinna Carlos Is Thankful This 2020 Because She Got To Know Her Daughter Even More

  Bettinna Carlos is glad that being quarantined within their condo unit’s four walls hasn’t posed a problem for her and daughter Gummy. In fact, the confinement has led them to discover new activities they can do together.

  Bettinna told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) during a virtual media interview on November 14, 2020: “You know, I’m so thankful that even though we live in a condo, may balkonahe, may ground floor, may hallway…

  “And, you know, I’m so thankful na, kahit 50 days bago una nakalabas, nakatungtong sa labas ng pintuan ang anak ko, nakapag-grocery ako.

  “We did not feel iyong cabin fever. Iyong parang kating-kati ka na lumabas kasi you’re so unhappy?

  “We did not feel so constraint about the limitations in terms of movement.”

  In fact, the celebrity mom said it was Gummy who pointed to her the silver lining in their new situation at the beginning of the lockdown.

  Bettinna related, “Sabi nga niya, e, she realized that the many things we didn’t do or weren’t able to do because we’re always out.

  “Now that we’re actually inside, ang dami pala. Dami pala mas magagandang worthwhile things to spend our time on.

  “I’m so thankful that we were happy being safe at home. We were praying, we were getting to know each other. We busied ourselves with activities.”

  The mom then recalled the time she began noticing Gummy’s compassionate side.

  She said, “Siya talaga iyong very discerning siya na, ‘Oh mom, that’s a frontliner right? Because they stay and help us.’

  Parang, they don’t have to be the people on the streets or the hospitals. Iyong sa community namin mismo, iyong mga janitors, janitress, guards, and all.

  “[For Gummy], we should give whatever we have to them. A sandwich or kung ano mang luto namin na extra, she’s so willing to give them.”

  Bettinna further shared that the pandemic has opened an opportunity for her to explain to her 10-year-old daughter more about life’s up and downs.

  She said, “I think it’s so important that kinakausap natin mga anak natin to teach them about what’s happening and the deeper reasons for those.

  “So, instead of worrying, ‘Ah, we’re stuck at home,’ it’s really an opportunity to change perspective.

  “Look at, ‘Oh, what good can this time bring about in our relationship, in our lives? What are the things we can actually reflect on? Improve on?’

  “It helps to pray and process it with your children and change your perspective about the situation.”
