  The proliferation of plastic waste has led so many non-governmental organizations to do something.

  For JuanBag, the goal is to encourage more people to choose reusable packaging over single-use ones.

  “JuanBag started 2019,” Rachelle Lacanlale, the founder of JuanBag, said. “My idea there was JuanBox at that time, so it’s reusable takeout containers for food establishments.”

  When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she decided to postpone the idea. “But then, that was also the time I was doing online shopping,” she shared. “One day, I was riding a jeepney and I just realized, what if we remove all the bubble wrap, tapes, on these boxes?”

  “How much plastic would we be able to save and will not go to our landfill?”

  JuanBag was born and the rest is history.

  They collect plastic packaging from consumers. They accept pouches, mailers, and bubble wraps–any plastic packaging from e-commerce and online businesses.

  After collection, they sanitize it and give it to communities for weaving.
